While renting a dumpster is a relatively easy process, there are a few things you’ll need to know ahead of time. Deciding where to have your dumpster rental dropped off is a very important part of the rental process. Before your dumpster gets dropped off, make sure you have the answers to the following:
What Size Do I Need?
First you should consider what size dumpster you’ll be renting. Most rental companies carry 10, 20, 30, and 40 yard dumpsters, others will also carry 12 and 15 yards, when choosing your size take the measurements into consideration. Will there be enough room for the dumpster in the location you desire, is the area clear for the driver to easily deliver and pick up the dumpster. Keep in mind dumpsters can cause damage to lawns or driveways, if you absolutely need to place your dumpster rental in an area that could be damaged, request wooden planks to be put on the ground for protection.

Secure Your Location
The next step is to secure your drop off location, make sure the area is clear of any low hanging wires, branches, or debris that could effect your drop off. Most importantly, make sure there is absolutely nothing blocking the delivery area, all cars and other obstructions need to be moved prior to the delivery. If the driver goes to deliver your dumpster and is unable to put it in the location stated on your paper work, you will be charged a dry run fee, so make sure your space is good to go.
If you are doing work in your backyard, you’ll probably want to avoid the truck driving across your lawn. Look at the area where you’ll be working and try to find an accessible spot for the dumpster to be dropped off. We do not recommend placing the dumpster on dirt, if you get caught in some rain the dumpster may sink into the ground, causing major issues when it’s time to be picked up.
You should also make it a point to know where your property line is, so that you do not place the dumpster in a place that doesn’t belong to you. If you get the dumpster dropped off in an area that you do not own, it could become a costly mistake if things go wrong.
Check for Permits
If you plan on placing your dumpster rental in the street, check to see if your city requires a permit. Many municipalities have strict rules on dumpster rental service, if you’re unsure don’t worry! When you call us at Dumpster Rental Inc we can check if your area requires a permit for a dumpster to be placed in the street. Rather than going to pay for the permit yourself, we will contact your cities local office and take care of it for you, the fee will just be added to your rental.
